OUR WORK IN CUSCO
The LEAP Center, through its Health Care Quality Improvement program, made significant strides in enhancing healthcare provision processes and patient safety culture in Cuzco, Peru, from July 2018 to January 2022.
Collaborating closely with key hospitals in the region
This included the Gerencia Regional de Salud, Hospital Antonio Lorena, Hospital Alfredo Callo Rodriguez, and Red de Salud Canas-Canchis Espinar. Our initiative targeted the most vulnerable segments of the population, both urban and rural. By implementing interventions such as surgical safety checklists, hand hygiene protocols, and systems approach interventions, we witnessed notable improvements in patient outcomes and healthcare worker practices.
Furthermore, our focus on maternal health in rural communities addressed critical gaps in access and resources, demonstrating our commitment to equitable healthcare delivery. Our work underscored the importance of sustainable capacity-building efforts in fostering lasting change in healthcare systems.
HOW WE’RE MAKING A DIFFERENCE TODAY
Our current work is centered in the Miami-Dade county’s most at-risk zip codes, as every day, countless lives are lost due to inadequate access to quality maternal healthcare.
