We empower local communities to become the architects of their own well-being, working hand-in-hand with healthcare providers and expecting mothers to design sustainable programs that address the needs of the most at-risk zip codes in Miami-Dade County.

An Idea of Change
Sparked in a conversation about working to advance healthcare delivery through learning and performance ecosystems. This was the genesis of our mission and vision.

Founded
The dream moved to action as The Healthcare Learning and Performance Center is founded in Miami, FL as a pathway to improve healthcare delivery. Our purpose was defined embracing charitable, religious, educational and scientific components.

Leadership and Program Development
Our esteemed panel of experts in medicine, organizational leadership and project management defined our pathways to improve patient safety through experiential learning.

Antonio Lorena Hospital (Cusco, Peru)
Trip to Cusco to build relationships with the hospital and local leadership. Training in Cusco, Pisac and Sicuani, Peru. Established interdisciplinary teams to support education and leadership efforts.

Hospital Antonio Lorena (Cusco, Peru)
Return trip to Cusco, Peru to work hands on with the hospital team on leadership, ethics and accountability. Launched “Lavarse Las Manos” intervention in hospital and community.

Building Peruvian Partnerships
Established partnership agreements with DIRESA (Peruvian Ministry of Health) and CANA-CANCHIS-ESPINAR Health District in Southern region of Peru to support rural and community engagement.

Remote Training During COVID Pandemic
Travel was challenging during the COVID pandemic and Peru was hard hit. More than 200 care team partners in Cusco died from COVID 19. Regular video conferencing worked to support patient safety and infection control processes.

EmpowerHer Initiative
The organization determined a domestic focus for our work was favorable and embarked on the EmpowerHer Initiative to improve maternal health outcomes in impacted areas of South Florida.

Since The LEAP Center was founded in 2015, we have pursued a singular, vital mission: enhancing patient safety and optimizing healthcare delivery.
