Building Safer, Stronger Health Systems—Together

Since 2015, The LEAP Center has been working to make healthcare safer and more effective for everyone. Our work reaches communities across the globe—from rural villages in Peru to Southern Florida—strengthening community capacity, fostering collaboration among local leaders and providers, and supporting families in expanding access to care that is safe, inclusive, and culturally respectful.

Together, we’re building a future where every person receives the quality care they deserve.

Our Approach

We focus on building local capacity by offering tailored education, training, and resource development to community members, healthcare providers, and institutions.

Education and Training

We design and deliver tailored programs that equip healthcare providers with culturally responsive tools and strategies to improve patient safety and maternal health outcomes.

Community Capacity Building

We collaborate with local leaders and organizations to co-create solutions that promote health equity, leadership development, and community participation.

Sustainable Systems Change

We help healthcare partners implement long-term improvements through policy support, continuous learning, and strategic capacity building—driving better care across entire systems.

Upcoming initiative

Maternal Access and Care Initiative (MACI)

At the LEAP Center, we don’t believe zip codes should dictate health outcomes. We empower local communities to become the architects of their own well-being, working together with healthcare providers and expecting mothers to design sustainable programs. The MACI program focuses on identifying and addressing these barriers in at-risk zip codes within Miami-Dade County, Florida.

In five of the highest risk zip codes, fewer than half of pregnant women receive early prenatal care- and this disproportionately impacts women of color who are over 4x less likely to receive important care.

The Maternal Access Care Initiative (MACI) is our latest initiative focused on the challenges facing this community. Our project is focused on:

  • Expanding access to timely, quality care
  • Addressing poverty and education barriers
  • Reducing racial health disparities
  • Building sustainable, community-led solutions

Our Impact

Every number tells a story of lives strengthened, providers equipped, and communities empowered to lead their own health outcomes.
